COOKIE USAGE POLICY

COOKIE USAGE POLICY

This document (the “Policy“) sets forth the conditions and terms related to the use of computer files known as “cookies” by the company COMPAGNIE DES MONTRES SERICA, whose contact information is provided below (hereinafter “SERICA” or “We“).

This policy has been drafted in consideration of applicable legal and regulatory provisions, notably the General Data Protection Regulation of the European Parliament and Council on the protection of personal data No. 2016/679 of April 27, 2016 (hereinafter the “GDPR“) and the Data Protection Act of January 6, 1978, in its current version (collectively, the “Applicable Laws“).

It complements both the Privacy Policy and the General Terms and Conditions of Sale of SERICA, which can also be downloaded at the bottom of the SERICA website. It applies in the cookie management module, provided by the company AXEPTIO, which appears when connecting to the SERICA website and allows users to control in detail the cookies that are used.

1 – Presentation of cookies

Cookies are small text files, often encrypted, stored in the internet browser of your computer, smartphone, or digital tablet, i.e., the device used to access the internet.

Cookies are automatically generated when a user’s browser loads a given website: the site sends information to the browser, which then creates a text file. Each time the user returns to the same site, the browser retrieves this file and sends it to the server of the website, which can then read the information stored therein.

This information may concern purely technical elements (such as the browser used, the operating system of the device used to connect to the internet, screen resolution, etc.) or certain data that may have a personal nature, such as, for example, browsing preferences as long as they can be linked to a natural person

2 – Controller of Personal Data Processing

The controller of personal data processing carried out through cookies on the SERICA website is the company COMPAGNIE DES MONTRES SERICA, a simplified joint-stock company with a capital of 10,000 euros, identified under number 887 674 232 RCS Paris, with its registered office at 48 rue Lepic 75018 Paris (France), represented by its President (France).

3 – Types of cookies used or not used on the SERICA website

Different types of cookies can be distinguished based on their respective purposes:

  • Technical cookies are used throughout your navigation to facilitate it and perform certain functions. A technical cookie, for example, can be used to save products placed in a shopping cart, remember responses entered in a form, or user preferences regarding language or the presentation of a website when such options are available. Technical cookies do not require user consent.
  • Marketing cookies may be created by social networks to allow website designers to share the content of their site on these networks. These cookies can be used by social networks to track the navigation of users on the relevant website, whether or not they use these cookies. The goal is to display content that is specifically of interest to the user.
  • Advertising cookies can be created not only by the website the user is navigating but also by other websites displaying ads, announcements, widgets, or other elements on the displayed page. These cookies can be used, among other things, for targeted advertising, i.e., advertising determined based on the user’s navigation.
  • Statistical cookies are created by statistics and audience measurement tools. These cookies, by collecting and communicating information anonymously, allow understanding how you interact with our website.
4 – Purposes of using cookies on the SERICA website

In general, the cookies deposited by the SERICA website serve one or more of the following purposes:

  • Ensure the proper functioning of the SERICA website, including placing orders on the website. In particular, the technical cookies used on the SERICA website enable the proper functioning of the shopping cart.
  • Display advertising banners on Facebook and/or Instagram and/or Google.

Indeed, the SERICA website uses several types of cookies. This usage is subject to obtaining the consent of internet users. Therefore, when you connect to the site, a module edited by our partner AXEPTIO will appear, allowing you to configure the use of cookies, including opposing such usage.

5 – Cookie settings via the internet browser

Even though the CNIL now requires obtaining consent for each cookie or purpose, as allowed by the management module edited by AXEPTIO, a partner of SERICA, internet browser software developers continue to offer the option to manage cookies directly at the browser level.

You therefore have the possibility to choose which cookies you accept or refuse.

The method varies depending on the different browsers currently most used, as well as the versions of the browsers. For the main browsers on the market, here are the manipulations allowing you to configure your internet browser software and, if necessary, block all or part of the cookies. These manipulations may evolve over time with software updates. We invite you to consult the cookie pages of the publishers of these software for the most up-to-date version.

a. If you use the Edge browser (Microsoft)

To open the browser, click the “Start” button, then click “Edge.” Click the “Tools” button, then click “Internet Options.” Click the “Privacy” tab, then under “Settings,” move the slider up to block all cookies or down to allow all cookies, then click “OK.” Blocking cookies may prevent some web pages from displaying correctly.

b. If you use the Mozilla Firefox browser

Select the “Preferences” menu, then the “Privacy” panel. In the History area, select the option “Firefox uses custom settings for history.” Check the “Accept cookies” box to enable cookies or uncheck it to refuse them.

Firefox also allows you to set the cookie retention period and, for example, ensure that they are deleted when the browser is closed.

c. If you use the Safari browser (macOS or iOS)

By default, Safari only accepts cookies and data from websites visited by you. You can change your preferences so that Safari either always accepts or systematically blocks cookies and other data from websites.

In Safari, select the “Preferences” tab, then click “Privacy” and select an option for “Cookies and other website data.”

Since iOS 12, it is only possible to “Block all cookies.” The system then informs you that, if you select this option, websites may not work, and cookies and other data from sites on your device will be deleted. The software also allows you to select the option “Prevent cross-site tracking,” which theoretically makes it impossible to track

d. If you are using the Google Chrome browser:

Click on the “Tools” menu icon, then select “Advanced Options” to access the “Privacy” menu. Here, you can choose from various options, such as “Block all cookies” or “Block only third-party cookies.”

6 – Cookie Deletion

If you do not wish to oppose the use of cookies but simply want to delete certain ones, here is the method to follow based on the browser you are using.

a. If you are using the Edge browser (Microsoft):

In Edge, click on the “Tools” button, then select “Internet Options.” Under the “General” tab, under “Browsing history,” click on “Settings.” Click on the “Show files” button.

Click on the “Name” column header to sort all files in alphabetical order, then scroll through the list until you see files starting with the prefix “Cookie.”

Select the cookie(s) you want to delete and remove them. Close the window containing the list of files, then click twice on “OK” to return to Internet Explorer.

b. If you are using the Mozilla Firefox browser:

Go to the “Tools” tab of the browser and select the “Options” menu. In the window that appears, select the “Privacy” tab and click on “Show Cookies.” Identify the files you want to delete. Select them and delete them.

c. If you are using the Safari browser (macOS or iOS):

In the menu bar, choose “Safari” and then “Preferences.” Click on the “Privacy” tab and then on “Details.” The latest version of Safari indicates the number of cookies stored on your computer. You can either delete all cookies at once or delete only those you no longer want.

Select the cookie you want to delete and click on “Clear.” After deleting the cookies, click on “Done.”

To delete your cookies when using Safari from iOS 12 or later, go to “Settings,” then “Safari,” and then “Clear History and Website Data.” To delete other stored information, go to “Settings,” “Safari,” “Advanced,” then “Website Data,” and finally “Remove All Website Data.”

d. If you are using the Google Chrome browser:

Click on the “Tools” menu icon, then select “Advanced Options” to access the “Privacy” menu. Here, click on the “Show Cookies” button. Select the cookies you want to delete and click on “Clear.” After deleting the cookies, click on “Close.”

7 – For any questions regarding the use of cookies by SERICA

In accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act and the GDPR, you have the right at any time to access, rectify, modify, and delete personal data concerning you if it is inaccurate, incomplete, ambiguous, or outdated. You also have the right to object, for legitimate reasons, to the processing of personal data concerning you. However, such objection may make it impossible to continue using the SERICA website. You can exercise these rights by sending an email to [email protected].
